A library instruction class provides a unique opportunity for librarians to market the library's plethora of print and electronic resources, library services, and librarians, themselves, as information experts.
The actual class, albeit only 1-2 hours, provides the librarian an opportunity to market and promote the library. In our presentation we present a three-step process in which we use library instruction as a marketing tool.

Participants will benefit by:

  • learning more about the process of marketing the libraries services
  • understanding how to enrich the library instruction class
  • exploring ways to engage a variety of library users.

Homeschoolers are a uniquely resourceful, independent, and intense group of people. As the fastest growing form of education,  public libraries need to be prepared to serve this population.

Designed for library staff who would like to work with homeschooling families, but are not sure where to start. We'll cover the basics of who homeschoolers are, how libraries can benefit from connecting with them, and how libraries can offer low-cost, high-return programs and services to this growing community.

This session will be led by librarian Alison McCullough and author of "Helping Homeschoolers in the Library" Adrienne Furness.
