Southern Alberta Library Conference

Geared toward public library stakeholders in Southern Alberta, the Southern Alberta Library Conference is a two-day event where delegates will learn about new trends and best practices in services that libraries provide for their communities.

Hosted in collaboration by Chinook Arch Regional Library System and Lethbridge Public Library, the Southern Alberta Library Conference brings together community-minded individuals who believe that all people should have access to shared resources which support literacy, lifelong learning, and an excellent quality of life.

Chinook Books for Babies

Books for Babies is a family literacy program which recognizes, celebrates, and supports parents as their children’s first teachers. Books for Babies encourages parents to read to their children early in life, as birth to 2-3 years is an important window of opportunity for the brain to develop language skills.

Chinook Books for Babies is a partnership between Alberta Health Services and Chinook Arch Regional Library System. Every newborn baby in the region is provided with a baby-friendly reading kit. The kit includes a bookbag with suitable books to share with your child, tips to help make reading fun for the whole family, and suggestions for good books to share with your baby.

We rely on donations and grants to continue our work. For some families, the Books for Babies kit will be the only literacy material they have at home. If you want to help, donate now.
